Meet Tara — Your Founder

I've been in the tanning industry for 30 years — tanning beds, spray tan salons, tanning booths, all of it. And after decades of that, I knew exactly what it was doing to my skin — I wasn't willing to keep aging myself just to stay tan.

So I looked at the sunless options. Every single one was a letdown — streaky, orange, smelled awful, a messy application, and then hours of waiting for it to even develop. I didn't make Moonlit Mermaid to start a business. I made it because I love being tan, and I refused to settle for a self-tanner that wasn't amazing.

So I built the one I actually wanted to use.

It wasn't until I started sharing it that I realized I wasn't the only one. So many women were dealing with the exact same letdown — and that personal formula turned into Moonlit Mermaid.

Every bottle is still hand-crafted in small batches, because I'd rather make it right than make it fast.

This isn't a side project. It's 30 years of knowing exactly what doesn't work — turned into the one I made for myself, that turned out to be for everyone.
